The Spielman Family
In just over 14 days Caring for Community will host it's 4th Cornhole 4 Community event. Sure there will be a bunch of fun people competing in a childish (or so you may think) game of tossing bean bags. And there will be raffle prizes, and auction prizes and donated food available. There will also be a bounce-house, music, games for kids. . . do I really need to go on? In other words there will be no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Oh, there's one more thing that will be going on. . . we will be trying to raise a whole bunch of money for family that is hurting! They are hurting for the loss of a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter. They are hurting for a 6 year old little boy that has been in the hospital since the accident on Aug 25 and just recently got moved to a children's rehab center, while he continues to be not quite alert and completely conscious recovering from spinal, brain and lung injuries, not to mention the broken bones.
At the end of the day we know we can't take away the hurt. But what we CAN do is show this family a loving community that cares for them. Please come out and join us by clicking the link the the Spielman Tournament at the top of this page. If you can't play (or are just plain scared to play a game called cornhole), please consider making a donation to the cause (contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Over the last 4 years we have build up a great network of supporting businesses and organizations (see their logos on panel on the side of this sit) who because of their generosity we can confidently tell people that any donation that they make to C4C will go to the family and for that we are so grateful!
We will continue to pray for PJ, for Riley and for anyone touched by the accident. You're welcome to join us in that too!
2013 Cornhole For Community Event
It's TIME!
It's our pleasure to announce that on Saturday Oct 12, Caring for Community will host the 4th annual Cornhole For Community event. The day will be filled with cornhole tournament, games, activities for kids, food and fun, all benefiting a local family trying to overcome tremendous tragedy.
While the circumstances are hard, and their story is heartbreaking, please join us as we strive to show this family a loving, caring and generous community that will come together to support and encourage a family dealing with a loss of a mother and child, while another child is fighting to recover.
Throughout the next few weeks we will have more information in how you can be a part of this day.
For now we have some simple guidelines:
- Pray
o Come along side of us for this family. Pray for peace and comfort for PJ, the father/husband and their extended family, for healing of Riley, and for their needs to be met.
- Donate:
o Every dollar raised leading up to and through Oct 12th will directly go to supporting this family.
o We also are looking for great prizes for raffles/auctions/giveaways. If you have access to something that could be given away (event tickets, restaurant gift certs, merchandise) we would be happy to receive it and use it as a way to generate more money in support of the event.
- Sponsor:
o C4C offers sponsorship opportunities to businesses and individuals who are lead. Sponsorship monies help to provide the opporating costs of the event (T-shirts, Rentals, supplies). Everything beyond the expenses goes to the cause.
o Ask us about different sponsorship levels available
- Participate:
o Raising money is certainly a big part of the event, but in order for Cornhole 4 Community to be as successful as we can be we need people to participate in the tournament. We do our very best to make the tournament fun for all skill levels by having multiple brackets so everyone has a chance to enjoy the day.
o This year, the event will take place in the Kennedale Junior High School gymnasium with the support of KISD.
If you have any questions about how you can help us on this day don't hesitate to contact us.
